Herstori Wraps 1 Year in Business Celebration
Phoenix, Arizona has more to offer than scenic sunsets and pleasant winters. This December, Herstori Wraps celebrated their one year anniversary with a premier fashion event hosted at the Unexpected Art Gallery, an event space, located in Downtown Phoenix. Anneke Marie, founder of Herstori Wraps truly created an "Unexpected" One Year Anniversary Celebration. DJ Yellawave, PK Tha Poet, Hors d'oeuvres by the Chic Chef, Mrs. Nik Fields and drinks by Bar Magic.
This event was a dynamic display of honoring the tradition of African head wraps while also fusing hip hop, art, fashion, and culture packed all into one single unique fashion event. As the creator and curator of the Wrap movement in Phoenix, Anneke Marie and The Wrap Effect was most definitely an amazing display of a visionary's ability to collaborate and connect a powerful history to the present and future to shift consciousness and impact future generations.
Opening the show with women adorned in gold boots, black body suits wearing crowns made of denim, the ladies walked boldly. The DJ switched tracks and goddesses emerged with both their bodies and heads wrapped in pink, royal purple, blue, goldenrod and red to the dope sounds of Andre 3000. Showing the creator's versatility and intentionality within her design concepts. The color contrasts were phenomenal.
There were so many combinations of looks, one of the boldest sets provided attendees with a peek into the very edgy and risqué mind, and persona of the creator herself. As Bobby Brown's voice came through the speakers, the lyrics of "My Prerogative" served as a liberating soul cry and statement for women's freedom. The ladies ripped the runway rocking black and gold Wraps, fishnet stockings, black velvet and black leather.
Texture, prints, patterns, bold colors, denim, shimmering solids and iridescent fabrics. Body chains and dance hall, African print and Face paint. See through bodysuits and knee high boots the ladies killed the stage. The women were the epitome of BAD, but that is not all, the show featured much more than just beautiful fierce queens. In the men's set, walking with chests out in full force to Mr. LL Cool J in a combination of bleached jeans bright colors, bandanas, pocket squares, Camo and Timbs. Anneke Marie proves that Herstori is definitely made for men too. Styled by Trends By Von, there was enough swag and confidence on the runway to keep the crowd hype and completely engaged.
The Wrap Queen herself rocked a sheer bodysuit and skirt. Custom made by Keesha Stillwell with the most daring and dangerously appropriate for the occasion leg split that cascaded sexily up her thigh. Rocking a Black and Gold Crown, and vibing out to Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" Anneke Marie ended her Wrap Effect Fashion event with the dopest final walk and officially slayed 2017. Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Herstori Wraps. #blackgirlmagicphx #herstoriwraps
